Late Start Motion
Brought back by Admin with a recommendation to fail

Would need to shift end time for school to meet state regulations
Motion Fails
Abstentions: Want to hear more options for scheduling
“I move that the school adopt a policy to limit athletic practices and games (optional and non-optional) during school vacations. School sports will allow for two consecutive days of no scheduled practices or games during Thanksgiving and February break, and three consecutive days during Holiday and April break.”
I move to amend the amendment to read: “I move to amend the motion to read ‘I move that the school adopt a policy to limit athletic practices and games during school vacations. School sports will allow for at least two consecutive days of optional practices or games during Thanksgiving and February break, and at least three consecutive days during Holiday and April break. Coaches would communicate with athletes, parents and the Athletic Director in writing at the start of the season which of those days are optional. Coaches are encouraged not to hold practices during these optional days.’”
Amendment Passes
Motion as stood after previous amendment: “I move that the school adopt a policy to limit athletic practices and games during school vacations. School sports will allow for at least two consecutive days of optional practices or games during Thanksgiving and February break, and at least three consecutive days during Holiday and April break. Coaches would communicate with athletes, parents and the Athletic Director in writing at the start of the season which of those days are optional. Coaches are encouraged not to hold practices during these optional days.”
Motion Passes
Money Allocation Motion
“I move that money allocations under $300 be voted on without roll call procedure.”
Saves time; people don’t need to know exactly who voted for what on small $ allocations
Motion Passes
Notes and New Business: Discussion about Exams before Break
Block scheduling possibility or starting school two weeks early (ending two weeks late)
Do the pros outweigh the cons?
Potentially having the week before exams be only review, no new material
December/Holiday season is already busy enough, exams would add a lot of stress
Having exams right after break means you forget what you learned
Break isn’t really a break when you stress about exams happening right after
Seniors are working on college applications and hearing back from their early decision schools.
