Mod: Email your chair if you won’t be in committee meetings as soon as possible. There is going to be a meeting during 4th period on the Tuesday back about the presentations on Council and Restorative Practices.
A-Mod: Discussed Mr. Campbell and Mr. Jackson Athletics over Break which is more complicated than originally anticipated. Hopefully there will be wording after break.
Treasurer: Council Fund: $5,816.04, Co-Curricular: $5,013.
Secretary: Staff alternate can vote
DSB: Discussed the proposed budgets for next year
Curric: Discussed Curric Survey
SAC: Checked in with clubs
OEC: Continued work on Handbook
Service: If this motion passes the committee would be willing to take on the logistics
Inclusivity: The Gender Motion requires nametags to be handed out and we want to have education that accompanies those so we are proposing a schedule for the first day of the 2nd semester with a 40 minutes common ground at the beginning of the day to have Council Members and Peer Leaders lead CGs through an activity we have created about the gender spectrum and importance of pronouns and it has been approved by the Administration. Planning to do the training on the Council period of 1.11

Service on Transcript Motion
“I move to allow students to have the option to report yearly community service hours to be
included on their graduating transcripts. If a student does not report any hours, that student’s
transcript will not include a community service section.”
The beauty of service is in the purity of the service and the goal of having it on the transcript and adding it to the list of competitive qualities lessens the purity
The transcript is traditionally reserved for requirement for graduation
This is the wrong application. Clubs and sports don’t go on the transcript and as this isn’t a graduation requirement it shouldn’t be on the transcript
The intent of this was to encourage service by providing an incentive rather than making it a chore and show that the school values it with an easy way to report it
If we are placing it on a transcript it should be a graduation requirement
If there are logistical issues those should be worked out before the motion is passed
“I move to table this motion until the meeting of 1.25”
There should be more thought about the logistical execution
It would be impossible for the hours to only be listed for some students on a transcript and could harm the students that haven’t logged any hours
In the past the logistical element was the downfall of the service requirement
If this motion is not possible we should come back with a requirement motion
This committee is not necessarily willing to bring forward a requirement
If it is not possible we should not table this motion and just fail it and later we could bring a different motion in a similar spirit
Motion Fails
We should look at giving awards for certain levels of community service participation that could be listed and give service more of a punch on the transcript and despite logistic problems in the past Youth in Action is willing to do the recording work
To put anything on the transcript must go through School Board Approval but something like the way March Intensive is reported could work
Colleges like the transcript to be as simple, clear, and minimalist as possible
Motion Fails
